In the current era when "national trend" culture is booming, traditional intangible cultural heritage skills are entering modern life with a brand-new look. From July 2nd to 5th, the "Textile and Weaving Youth" practice team of Wuhan Textile University went to Suzhou to conduct a special research, exploring the modernization transformation path of the national intangible cultural heritage Song brocade and promoting the innovative development of traditional craftsmanship.
Song brocade was formed in the Southern Song Dynasty and reached its peak in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is known as one of the "Three Famous Brocades" along with Shu brocade and Yun brocade. It is known for its magnificent color and exquisite patterns, earning the reputation of "the crown of splendor".
In the Song Brocade Cultural Park, members of the practice team closely appreciated the exquisite weaving techniques, magnificent patterns and rich cultural connotations of Song brocade, and learned about the splendid transformation of Song brocade from history to fashion.
Zhu Yunxiu, 64, is a representative inheritor of Song brocade weaving techniques. She has been engaged in silk technology, research and protection for over 20 years. She patiently introduced simple weaving techniques to the members of the practice team, allowing students to experience the eternal charm of intangible cultural heritage through interactive handcrafting of Song brocade.
The practice team visited several brand stores, exchanged views with the operators, learned about their innovative attempts in product design, market promotion and other aspects, and discussed the transformation and upgrading of the silk textile industry.
